The mean is the “average.” It is the sum (total) of all values in a data set, divided by the number of values in the data set. In statistics, it is a measure of central tendency of a probability distribution along median and mode.
Calculating the Mean
- Add up all data values to get the sum
- Count the number of values in your data set
- Divide the sum by the count
